Heaven Knows I Love a Milner (LFW catch up)
I love hats and so when I was asked to help out with the Welsh Collective LFW show, and told I would be working with, among others, a milner called Robyn Coles, I new things were going to be exciting.
And my expectations were not wrong. Working on her show was a lot of fun. I especially enjoyed working with the range of models Robyn had selected to strut down her catwalk nude, bar her hats.
Though Robyn make hats for women, Jeff Leach, a man and the only lad to walk in the show, was one of the models. It got quite giggly backstage as Jeff was trying to ‘warm up’ by getting used to being commando because I know Jeff. He’s a good friend of one of my close friends, I’ve interviewed him before and also think he’s a nice chap. So I think I probably made things a bit harder for him!
As you can see from this snapshot of him backstage there were some things he liked to keep covered before his turn to walk.
The pregnant glamour model and former Miss Wales Sophie Cahill, also walked in the show. Though the model who was the most inspiring, in my opinion was the elderly model Teresa Puschante. Older people are so often completely cut out from fashion especially when we think about promoting stuff in a daring or sexual manner. There are a few really interesting labels designers and labels who are making non-conservative, really interesting, really loud clothes just for older people and actually using older models to market the clothes too, but this is rare.
I also worked on Bek Cochrane’s show, styling lots of clean cut minimalist women’swear designs and for Sabrina Henry, dressing lots of lovely looking boys in her industrial inspired menswear collection.
